Doctor in contemprorary history from the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE, Paris). Dissertation thesis: "Fare la matematica italiana: Italian mathematicians involved in political life during the long Risorgimento". Advisor: Gilles Pécout (ENS/EPHE) and Ilaria Porciani (Bologna University).

Agrégé of history (2008).

Former grant holder from Collegio superiore de Bologne (2009), Scuola normale superiore de Pise (2010, 2011), École française de Rome (2010, 2013), Remarque Institute of the New York University (2011, 2015 et 2016), Université franco-italienne (2011-2014), Institut méditerranéen de recherches avancées (2012) and Collège des Bernardins (2012-2013).
